Evangelism ... witnessing ... sharing our faith with others.
The Greek word is euaggelistes:
euaggelistes yoo-ang-ghel-is-tace'; a preacher of the gospel:--evangelist. To evangelize is to announce good news.
Evangelist only appears twice in the Bible. Acts 21:8; And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.
But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. ~ 2 Timothy 4:5 Evangelists is only found one time; in Ephesians chapter 4: And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: They all hold the same meaning.
The work of an evangelist is a gift of God, not only to the saints but to the people of the world. They travel about, preaching to those whom the Holy Ghost has led them to. Evangelism is sharing the good news of the salvation that is available through Jesus Christ. Jesus, himself told us to go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He told us that whoever believes and is baptized shall be saved; but anyone that doesn't shall be damned. We are to be preaching the Gospel of Jesus to both Christians and non-Christians. Everyone in every nation needs to hear the power and love and salvation that comes through Jesus Christ.
