Bible Studies and Lessons
We have had people ask us why should the Bible be studied? They tell us that they go to church and read whatever it is the preacher is talking about. But, is that enough we ask? God's word tells us to study. 2 Timothy 2:15 states: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. I enjoy reading the scriptures. Everyday the Lord God shows me something new ... it is a great joy to me! What we like to do is really study ... see what else joins into the scripture we're reading. In the scripture mentioned above, we have gone to the Greek to find the meaning of the words. Study [spoudazo] to use speed, to make effort, be prompt or earnest:--do (give) diligence, be diligent (forward), endeavor, labor, study to shew [paristemi] to stand beside, to exhibit, proffer, recommend, substantiate; or to be at hand (or ready), aid:--assist, bring before, command, commend, give presently, present, prove, provide, shew, stand (before, by, here, up, with), yield thyself approved unto God, a workman [ergates] a toiler; figuratively, a teacher:--laborer, worker ... you see the idea!
In these days we are in saints and believers need to be in the Word ... rightly knowing the word of truth. A fruit that is good for your soul is to make up your mind that you will put some time every day into the study of the Word of God. That's an easy decision to make, and not a difficult one to keep; if you've made it in earnest. Read to understand. We have several Bible versions that we study from. When studying in the Old Testament we also reference the Tanakh. We include a dictionary in our study as well, and a notebook for notes. Try it, it's the best food you'll ever eat!
